Interpretive Tours
Tours will start back up in November. Discover the Sonoran Desert! Participants will learn interesting facts about the park flora and fauna, Hohokam history, and park geology while hiking to the Grandview Lookout area, where the tour ends.
Be prepared to hike portions of steep, rocky trail at a leisurely pace with many stops along the way. Wear comfortable outdoor clothing, hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen and carry plenty of water.

Full Moon Hikes
Join staff and volunteers on a guided walk to the Grandview area as the moon rises. This cool evening hike will include a starlight night and chance to be in the park after hours. Program duration is approximately one and a half hours and 1.5 mile of moderate hiking. No fee but registration is required.

Astronomy Evenings
Participants aged 8 and older are invited to enjoy a beautiful desert evening under the stars and learn about some of the objects visible in the night sky. A short talk explaining the solar system and galaxy is followed by observing the moon, several planets, multiple star systems, globular clusters and nebulae through a celestron telescope.
Beginners are welcome as the explanations will be kept at a novice level. No hiking is required. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and a small penlight flashlight. Program duration is approximately one and a half hours.

Special Events and Exhibits
Jingle Hike to Santa
Enjoy a ho-ho-ho hike and a trail side visit with the jolly old guy himself at Pinnacle Peak Park on Dec. 1, 2018. The hike is a self paced 1 mile round trip and is steep in several sections so little legs may need extra time. A seasonal craft activity will be provided at the trailhead. Registration is required. Nature Walks and Tours at Pinnacle Peak
Free Guided Nature tours offered every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, November thru March beginning at 10 a.m. Come prepared to walk the trail at a leisurely pace for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, to our Grandview Overlook, a round-trip distance of about 1.5 miles. No reservations needed, as tours are done on a drop-in basis!
Geology Tour
Join us on a journey through over a billion years of geologic time as we examine the forces of the earth that created the rocks and landforms of Pinnacle Peak and the surrounding area of the Sonoran Desert. We will be taking a close look at some spectacular geologic features in the rocks at the park, as well as looking out and observing the geology of the surrounding land.
Bring water and a snack, wear a hat and sturdy shoes. We will be hiking the trail which includes uneven terrain and an elevation gain of approximately 300 feet to the Grandview Overlook, returning the same way. This tour will be making several stops along the way, so please allow 2 hours for this activity. The round-trip distance is approximately 1.5 miles.
Tours are on a drop-in basis and free. Geology tours will resume next Spring.
Wildlife Programs
During the cooler season, Pinnacle Peak Park will host partnering organizations in the trailhead ramada – no hiking is required. Wildlife programs are ongoing throughout the allotted time period. Guests of all ages are welcome. These free presentations will be offered from 10 a.m. - Noon, Saturdays.

Native American Flute
Pat Rickard will play her original compositions on the Native American Flute in the ramada from 10 a.m. - Noon.

Alice Demetra will have various demonstrations of native plants being used for food, medicinal purposes, and more in the ramada from 10 a.m. - Noon on the following days.
