As we close out the year, we’ve all been enjoying time with visiting family, holiday traditions, and a little winter magic. Lisa and Matt recently returned from a two-week Silverseas cruise through Greece—a relaxing getaway with beautiful weather, wonderful service, and a much-needed break for both of them. Kelly and her family will continue their longtime tradition of ringing in the New Year at Disneyland, staying for the midnight fireworks and enjoying the park until 2 a.m. Kim and the Luckys share the tradition of cooking their Southern black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day—a longtime good-luck custom meant to bring prosperity and a fresh, hopeful start to the year. And closer to home, Laura and her husband Will are taking Kaia and Connor up to Flagstaff for the North Pole Experience, and in January they’ll be celebrating Kaia’s 3rd birthday with a special visit to the Princess—always a favorite for kids and grown-ups alike.
You may have also seen recent headlines about the idea of a 50-year mortgage being discussed at the federal level. While it sounds like an appealing way to lower monthly payments, expert Mike Orr from The Cromford Report caution that the long-term costs make it a risky option for most buyers. Equity builds very slowly on a 50-year term, and interest paid over time is dramatically higher. This product is not yet offered, but we will continue to stay apprised of evolving lending options that may be advantageous for homebuyers.
