Laura Lucky – Moving Into 2021
2020 is a year that I will remember as one that brought new perspectives to light for many of us.
Despite the toilet paper shortages, travel cancellations, and increased use of Clorox wipes everywhere — the moments that stand out to me the most include increased family time, supporting local shops during tough times, and always remaining grateful for what we do have. I am constantly reminded to notice the unforeseen positives of our current circumstances and show daily appreciation for family, friendships, clients, health, home, and the opportunity to enjoy another day.
Throughout the past year we have repeatedly heard sentiments like “family means more than it ever has,” resulting in clients relocating closer to their loved ones and pursuing larger lots and homes to spend more time outdoors and with those near and dear.
Now more than ever, our family has prioritized supporting local and family run businesses. We know small-business owners love what they do, and play an important role in our community with new initiatives like www.localfirstaz.com that help keep our community afloat. I am grateful to feel more connected to my corner of the world than ever before and my family appreciates the business owners that treasure the relationships they have with all of their customers.
Looking forward to 2021, Lisa and Matt are nearing completion of their dream home. With daily visits to their home site, watching the progress has been a welcome distraction from the turbulent world around us. I’d like to give a special shout out to their dream team for making their vision a reality: Stephanie Fox, Nicole Keever & Scott Olsen from Platinum Companies, Eric Peterson with Phx Architecture, Mike Ferraro with Phoenician Pools, Kim Scodro with Kim Scrodro Interiors, and Russell Greey and Clayton Miller with Greey/Pickett Landscape Architects. If you are dreaming of your next family home, a vacation oasis in the desert, or are looking for design concepts, I hope this magazine brings you joy, encouragement, and a sense of inspiration in the year to come.
Throughout 2021, my hope is that we help you kick off the next 365 days with a sense of discovery about what’s right in your own backyard. We are grateful to have a family business that has allowed us to work so closely with our community and wish you a blessed and healthy year ahead.
